Let's get moving - Salsa, Tango & lots more

Incoporating fast foot movements, lots of hips and dancing up close to your partner.

Latino dances: The sexy dances

What is a Latino dance?

Latino dances are street dances, meaning they are are very relaxed and ad lib in nature.
They generally have fast foot movements, lots of turns , a relaxed hold
and are quite compact.
These dances originate from South America where dancing and music are a passion.
Get ready to move those hips and work up a sweat (sorry girls - a glow).

Learning a combination of  Latino dances:

Each dance has a different rhythm, so when the music changes you have 2 options; keep having fun or sit it out.

Who wants to miss out, be a master of the music not just the master of one.

It is not as difficult as it sounds, there will be a number of the basic moves that are pretty similar.

SALSA

Salsa music just makes you want to move, it has a "I want to give it a go" vibe.
You will rarely see a salsa dancer that is not smiling and having a good time.
The basic steps move in a line but the character of the dance is to add a lot of turns, partners changing places
and wrapping arm movements.  It gets very impressive when the music is faster and using the hips will make it look sexy.
This dance is very popular, lots of fun and gives you a great work out ... so let's Salsa!

BRAZILLIAN SAMBA

If the music reminds you of a Rio Carnival with lots of percussion, strings and some wind instruments
(and is 2/4 timing) you are ready to Samba, Brazilian style.
A solo dance featuring very fast foot movements combined with sexy use of the hips.
Can be danced on your own or with a group, be ready to get very fit.
You won't want to stop dancing to this great to be alive music.

MAMBO

Everyone loves the Mambo and once again it is very popular because it can be danced to both traditional and contemporary music. Even the faster music that is so popular in the club scene of today makes for a great Mambo and yes you guessed it, the Mambo also gives you a great work out.
This dance looks like a cross between Salsa and Cha Cha and can be danced to South American rhythms and contemporary popular music.

MERENGUE

This dance is great for beginners as it is danced on the beat and is very easy to learn. Partners weave in and out and around one another, the strong hip action makes this a very sexy dance. If the music has a good solid beat, you can always Merengue to it.

LAMBADA, BACHATA, ZOUK

Like almost all of the South American dances the Lambada offers a great work out and is a lot of fun. Although it's not one of the easiest dances to master, it is definitely one of the sexiest.
Bachata is a dance derived from Lambada with most commonly a hip bump replacing the usual Lambada flick.
Zouk is also derived from Lambada and is a very relaxed flowing dance featuring head flicks by the follower.

ARGENTINE TANGO

This dance has captured the imagination of the dancing public and has enjoyed a huge revival in recent times. Its intricate figures and fiery attitude are not for the faint hearted. All good dancers reserve a special place for the Tango and it is the only dance found in both dance styles. The Ballroom Tango could best be described as the more sophisticated of the two whereas the Argentine Tango reflects a type of raw passion and moodiness that is characteristic of this dance.
